The Creative Side
When I was a child I dreamed of becoming a Broadway star. I read my first Shakespeare play (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) in elementary school.
The rest is history.
It wasn’t until I went to Hampshire College that I began to write and compose seriously. I wrote The Undiscovered Country, an opera chronicling Hamlet’s journey through the afterlife and using a potpourri of Shakespeare’s own words for the libretto, as the culmination of my course work. My most recent composition is The Starry Night, a piece for chamber ensemble and chorus.
Though I’ve written poetry as long as I can remember, I began my first full-length novel in 2008. GLOW is now complete and available for representation, as is my second novel THE GHOST WRITER. I have several other projects in the works including:
- CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE CYBORG, a YA Science Fiction novel
- SHADOW, the sequel to GLOW
- THE DEVIL IN THE DRAWING ROOM, a historical fantasy
- revisions of the recently completed THE CRYSTAL BOOK.
The Professional Side
I have twelve years of experience dealing with customers, clients, and vendors in a number of different settings, therefore I am very comfortable dealing with a variety of people including interfacing with the media. I have an excellent work ethic and strong sense of responsibility and professionalism. My research, organizational, and analytical skills have been consistently demonstrated and praised, along with my ability to work independently and as part of a team. As the executive director of a community arts organization, I worked with the board to revise the company’s marketing plan. I created a plan that was more targeted to an arts audience and the result was a 20% increase in single ticket sales over the prior season. In my role as marketing director at a regional performing arts center, I gained a wealth of media contacts, created and published the organization’s first ever annual report, and devised and implemented a plan for increased visibility on the internet. In addition, throughout my career I have gained experience using numerous computer programs including: Microsoft Office; ticketing and database management software such as Raisers Edge, Tessitura, and ArtSoft; Adobe Photoshop and InDesign; Macromedia Contribute; all major web browsers; and a working knowledge of HTML and web-based content management systems.
